> Summer Camp 2008 Opportunities
Counselors
What a great
way to spend a week of your summer…helping kids have a really
memorable week at camp. Counselors are an integral part of the success
of a YMCA camp experience. If this sounds like something you'd like
to do, here are a few guidelines.
Each Counselor
is selected by the Camp Director for the week you're interested
in attending. All positions are "volunteer" and training
is mandatory. General information is given below. Your Camp Director
may have some additional criteria as well.
Counselors:
For Coed Youth Camp, you must be at least 16 years old. For Junior
High Camp you must be at least 18 years old and for High School
Coed Camp you must be 21 years old.
Under the leadership
of the Camp Director's staff, and with lots of support, you are
responsible for overseeing the activities of up to ten campers.
You must complete a Volunteer Application and provide verifiable
references. All YMCA volunteers have criminal record screening as
well.
It is helpful,
but not mandatory, that you have attended a prior YMCA camp.
